"The colder the better."

Hello,
My name is Rob Bratton. I am standing at the bar
of the Black Horse My dad stood at this same bar for many years before I did.
I have recently fulfilled an ambitioin through this website. In the last 2 years I have photographed every pub within the Borough of Gateshead. Not
only that, but I have also had a pint in every one of those pubs( except of course those which were closed or demolished before I started this site ). As these pubs re-open I will visit them and sample one of their fine ales.

I think I have photographed every pub in gateshead.  Do you know better?

Let me know !

A tribute to the world famous  NEWCASTLE  BROWN  ALE

                                ADDRESS  TO  THE  BROON

Rabbie Burns once wrote some fine lines in praise of the haggis which every good Scot knows, but Rabbie, being a good Scot himself sold another version to another Scott.  In this case it was Scott Dobson.  This time it was dedicated to Brown Ale...... and it went something like this......

Fair's yer honest broon-shinin' fyece,
Gaffer of aall the beery race,
Above thim aall ye tek yer place,
Mild, bitter, lager,
Weell named 'Jawney inter space'
In this alcoholic saga.

Afore me in me dreams ye stand,
The finest drop in aall the land,
Ah reach oot and tek ye by me hand,
Oh luvly broon,
And sup ye doon.
..

'Ye powers that mek Geordieland yer care,
Protect wor favourite bill of fare,
For Geordies need this vintage rare,
That aall be boond...
But if ye wish that grateful prayer...
GITBROONSAALLROOND !
(or as they say South of the Tees-- "This round's on me, you chaps")
